Pottery Paint-at-Home Kit

Your Paint-at-Home Kit Guide

Thank you for choosing a Potter Worx Paint-at-Home Kit. This guide will help you get the best results and enjoy the creative process from start to finish.

What’s in Your Kit

Your kit includes everything you need to create your own hand-painted pottery piece:

  • Blank pottery piece
  • A selection of ceramic paints
  • Paint brushes in various sizes
  • Vinyl stencils (Peel and Stick)
  • Masking tape
  • Pencil and eraser for sketching designs

Quick-Start Guide

Step 1 – Prepare Your Space:

Choose a comfortable, well-lit area to work. Cover your surface with paper or a mat to protect it, and have a small cup of water and some kitchen paper or cloth nearby for rinsing and drying brushes.

Step 2 – Plan Your Design:

Before painting, take a few minutes to plan your design.

  • Lightly sketch your idea onto the pottery using the pencil.
  • Use masking tape to create clean lines, borders, or geometric shapes.
  • Apply vinyl stencils for lettering or decorative elements.

Remember, light pencil lines are best—they are easier to erase or paint over.

Step 3 – Start Painting

  • Stir paints gently before use.
  • Apply paint in thin, even layers for the best finish.
  • Allow each layer to dry before adding another colour or detail.
  • Rinse brushes between colours and dry them lightly to avoid thinning the paint too much.

Take your time—building colour gradually gives the best results.

Step 4 – Finishing Your Piece

Once you’re happy with your design:

  • Carefully remove any tape or stencils once the paint is touch-dry.
  • Check for any areas that may need a second coat.
  • Allow your piece to dry fully in a safe place.

Follow any additional firing or return instructions provided with your kit, if applicable.

Tips for Best Results

  • Thin coats of paint are better than one thick coat.
  • Lighter colours may need two or three layers.
  • Small brushes are ideal for details and lettering.
  • Don’t worry about perfection—hand-painted pieces are unique by nature.
